The fantastic results speak for themselves, with a GOLD award again being given to CDYB, and for those players in the CCYWB, further accolades as they received PLATINUM for their performance.
City of Derby Youth Band and DMC Swing Band both received high praise for their performances in the NCBF. The regional event took place in Nottingham on 2nd December 2018, where both the bands performed a varied and exciting set of pieces for the judging panel and members of the public. In recognition of their high standard of play, both bands received Gold Awards.
Following the success at the regional level, CDYB was invited to take part in the NCBF National level performances took place on Royal Northern College of Music on 14th April 2019. This was a hectic day as many of the DMC players were also members of the City & County Youth Wind Band, who were also successful at regional level and performing at the RNCM on the same day as DMC for the National Finals! After much liaising with NCBF we had a schedule that worked for everyone, so that both bands could perform with their full compliment of players, some having also been released from a residential with the City & County Youth Orchestra who were rehearsing for their tour to Spain the following day!
