We are changing the usual auditions into One-to-One listening and feedback opportunities. Your individual playing and singing is at the centre of all the ensembles at Derby Music Centre, and we would like to share this with you. So each One-to-One will be a 15minute dedicated time slot for all Intermediate and Junior players and singers, with a conductor. This is the best way for us to share your achievements and progress, and to help us to plan for next year's ensembles. We aim to maintain balance in all the groups, so that there are strong players to support those just coming into the groups, and to ensure all instrumental parts are covered where possible. We also want to make sure that all our players are in the best groups for them to thrive and grow with their music making.

Our Groups has full details of the suggested ability range for each level from beginners, juniors, intermediates and seniors.
Intermediate and Junior players will be allocated a time by Mel for 7th June. We won't be able to fit everyone in on this day, so if you aren't available on the 7th please let us know and we'll schedule you on the 14th. We would like to hear one piece or a couple of extracts from your current pieces from the appropriate grade level. During your One-to-One you will receive feedback and advice from one of our conductors and they will discuss any changes to your ensemble timetable from September 2025.
On 7th June there will be no junior or intermediate ensembles, choir or samba band. However, wind club and string club will go ahead as usual, as will all senior groups including swing band, and flute and clarinet ensembles. The saxophone ensemble will also go ahead as usual.
