Conor Harron: A Profile

Conor is the Conductor of Junior Wind, and plays the Tenor Horn.

Conor has been working full time as a secondary school music teacher in Derbyshire and Staffordshire since 2010 and plays the tenor horn with Derwent Brass.

Conor grew up in County Tyrone and is very grateful to his music teacher for giving him a cornet on his first day at St. Colman’s High School in Strabane. He was soon playing regularly in the school’s brass band, two local brass bands and played cornet at his local music centre wind band, and later trumpet in the orchestra. After moving on to tenor horn, Conor went on to study music at the University of Huddersfield and enjoyed many years playing in some wonderful brass bands in Yorkshire.

Conor went on to do a PGCE in Nottingham before settling in Burton on Trent where he has been since, aside from teaching English for two years in Jakarta, and working as head of music in an international school in Bali, Indonesia. Aside from playing the tenor horn, Conor also enjoys DJing techno records, playing with drum machines and synthesisers and eating chocolate.
