Derby Music Centre is excited to again be a key part of the Rainbows Hospice Christmas Concert at Derby Cathedral on 7pm Wednesday 25th November 2026.

This event is a fantastic showcase for Derby Music Centre, and a wonderful festive event to kick off the Christmas music making, this year featuring City of Derby Youth Orchestra, Senior Clarinets, and Voices. Details:

  • CDYO and Senior Clarinets need to be at the cathedral from 5.15pm for a rehearsal and sound check. Please bring a snack/packed tea and drink if you haven’t already had your evening meal.

  • Voices can arrive from 6.15pm to be seated and familiarise yourselves with the staging where you will be joining the primary school choirs. Please bring a snack and drink for the interval (have your tea before you come).

  • Concert dress – white shirts/blouse and black skirts/trousers. Bow ties if you wish. Tinsel optional!

  • Bring a music stand please (not Voices) – we will not be bringing stands from DMC on this occasion.

  • Staffing: Voices will be supported by Hannah and Catherine, with Vicky and Peter registering the players from CDYO/clarinets.

  • All personal devices should be on silent/off throughout the concert and should not be used until the concert has ended.

  • Concert starts at 7pm and the band will be performing throughout the event. End time approx. 9.15pm

  • Tickets for friends and family will be available soon here

https://www.rainbows.co.uk/get-involved/events/rainbows-derby-christmas-concert this concert did sell out last year, so please buy your tickets quickly to avoid disappointment.

It is going to be a truly wonderful festive concert, which also includes a brilliant combined primary school choir, KTCo Musical Theatre performances and Rock Choir. Every player in the orchestra is crucial so please do let Bex know rebecca.maiden@derbyshire.gov.uk if for some reason a player is not able to attend.

Let’s get Christmas off to a cracking start on the 25th November.
